Workouts
Hi Everyone! I am asked a lot about how to keep workouts fresh and interesting, so boredom doesn’t kick in and the path to those healthy weight goals stays in sight. Cardio workouts are a great way to keep your weight on track and promote overall health.  So don’t do the same routine over and over, which can become boring and lead to a weight loss plateau. Instead mix it up! Let’s look at why cardio is so important, and different ways to keep you interested!

Did you know that the minimum amount of cardiovascular exercise that you need to protect your heart, burn fat and manage your weight is 30 minutes, three to four times a week? If 30 minutes of cardio sounds hard to achieve, rest assured that you can work up to it - and you should try to! It can help to prevent a weight loss plateau and promote an overall healthy body and mind!

Regular aerobic workouts like those in my 10-Week Plan are crucial for anyone who wants to live a long, healthy, active life. It is good for the heart, as this type of exercise strengthens the heart muscle and lowers blood pressure and cholesterol. This is especially good news for us women over the age of 40, as the risk of heart disease rises sharply in postmenopausal women, as a result of estrogen deficiency. Some studies suggest that aerobic exercise can reduce your risk of heart disease by more than 40%!

Cardio also helps to control weight, tone muscles and improve circulation, plus it gives you energy and stamina for everyday life. The harder you get the heart pumping, the better!

So if you are want to mix up the kind of cardio that you're doing to keep yourself interested and invigorated, and keep your weight goals in sight, try these cardio options - some of my favorites!

Overcoming Weight Loss Plateau - 3 Ways To Try

  1. Bike Riding. Cycling is a great way to mix up the muscles you use if you are used to running as your main cardio workout. Plus it’s fun to do! I recently entered into a licensing relationship with the Echelon Smart Connect Bike, which is a great way to cycle indoors and reap all the benefits of cycling, and them some!
  2. Hiking. If you are lucky enough to live near areas with elevation, take advantage of it! Hiking makes the time pass so quickly, and sometimes I don’t even feel like I have been working out, but instead am simply enjoying nature. And if you do not live near hills or a mountain, take advantage of the outdoors with a fast-paced walking routine - you’ll still get the cardio benefits!
  3. Dancing. I love dancing! Start by putting on music you love and dancing for five minutes when you wake up - it’s a great way to start the day! Then do some dancing after dinner, and on the weekends try one of my dancing-based workouts available in my 10-Week Plan. I think you will love it - it’s so fun!

So keep it mixed up, to help prevent weight loss plateau. You'll keep yourself - and your health - in the game! And don’t forget to try a 7-day free trial of my 10-Week Plan, where I lead you in all sorts of fun, effective cardio workouts! Join me today!
