Hi Everyone!

Today we’re throwing it back to my Fit & Lite TV show, filmed at The Boulders, Arizona. This Sun Salutation is a great yoga flow, incorporating several poses, including cobra and downward dog.

This yoga sequence is great for stretching and strengthening your entire core, including your abs and the muscles surrounding your spine. A strong core is more than looking great in a bikini. Core strength is the cornerstone of fitness….your spine is your lifeline!

I love yoga and do it a couple times a week. In addition to cardio, toning and strength training, yoga is a great way to stretch your muscles, lengthening and strengthening at the same time—improving muscle flexibility and overall endurance.

It is called the Sun Salutation because yogis believe that you should do it each morning at sunrise to start the day. This is just a modified Sun Salutation with six poses and some of the sequences go up to 12 poses altogether. This video clip has one round of a Sun Salutation and each exercise is done in sequence to really move the body. Try to do this flow a few times to get the heart rate up and feel great…feel stronger. Feel each move, each stretch.  Put on some beautiful music, go through it several times and really feel the flow.

Regular yoga can also help to reduce stress, so in addition to having a strong core physically, you’ll also find core mental strength and balance in your life, which is what we’re all striving for. Your happiness and health is everything! We only get one life…so make yours happy, healthy and fit.

Love always from your personal trainer,

Denise
