Inspiration to Get Off The Couch

Hi Everyone!

It’s Throwback Thursday again, and here’s the latest video clip from my Daily Workout TV Show, that aired on Lifetime TV and was shot on-location, on beaches all over the world.  This particular episode was filmed in the beautiful Turks & Caicos Islands in the Caribbean.

The tropical island scenery where we filmed was always breathtaking!  During the course of the show, fans would write to me all the time, telling me how much they loved working out with me and how the island setting behind me would invigorate them, motivating them to get off the couch and start moving with me.  I would often film up to five shows a day outside in the sun, and that beautiful water, along with everyone’s support and the inspiring scenery, would keep me going, too!  Over the years, people have told me so many great stories about how I have helped them to create a morning ritual that has lasted them a lifetime and that is what keeps me motivated—hearing your stories of success!

If you miss my shows, full access to all episodes, and tons of new workouts, are all available to members of my 360 Plan.  If you haven’t done so already, you can join now, right here on my website!  And for a limited time to celebrate Heart Healthy Month, the first week is now FREE!

Stay fit forever!

Love always,

Denise

Heyyy Mrs. Denise!!!

Oh my gosh, where have the years gone? I have been working out with Denise off and on for so many years – since I was a senior in high school in the late 80s. I remember these videos on the islands too. Here is a picture of a Denise Austin weight set I bought when I first started working out with Denise – http://1drv.ms/1wrKlNH They are so old I have duct tape on a couple of them to hold the cement inside. But hey, they still work just fine. 😉

I have arthritis and a herniated disc in my lower back. Between the sciatica and plantar fasciitis, I stopped all exercise (foolishly) for 2 years. I’m trying to get healthy again. I started today and did a walking routine. Any specific dos or don’ts you would recommend?

Hi NewYorkerJules! Of course, I would be sure to check with your doctor or physical therapist to make sure you’re safe. Then get in there and take one day at a time and follow the plan as best you can at Level 1 and look for the modifications that I offer up if you need them. The fact that you’ve already made this commitment to yourself and a healthy new lifestyle is a really big first step. You can swap out the workouts and use the search feaature to mix it up, then keep track of your favorites by putting a heart next to them so you can easily find them again. Walking is a great way to start (The Walk With Me workout is one of my favorites for low-impact) combined with some of the yoga and toning videos to start building up your strength again. You’ve got this! Love always, Denise
