Beat the Heat With These Quick But So Effective Summer Reset Workouts!
Hi everyone! As a proponent of exercising most days, summer temps can sometimes get in the way… but the good news is long, intense workouts can be replaced during summer - and you can still get amazing results! Think of it as a Summer Reset: It’s all about exercising smarter, not harder, so you are filled with energy, strength and vitality!
Here are my Summer Reset workout tips - you will look and feel your best after you incorporate these!
Take It To The Pool. Water workouts are no joke - you get all the benefits of cardio, strength, and resistance training while staying cool in the pool! Plus it’s easy on the joints, perfect for anyone over 50. Look for local classes, or if you have access to a pool, try water walking or jogging, moving your arms through the water with cupped hands for extra resistance, and leg lifts. I love doing water aerobic workouts with girlfriends - so much fun and the time flies by!
Wake Up Flexibility Sessions. I do yoga or Pilates when I wake up - even 10 minutes helps me feel longer, leaner and healthier, and I definitely notice that I stand taller and prouder when I am done! Indoor Walks. There’s no excuse if it’s too hot for an outdoor walk - walk right where you are! My Indoor Walking Workout in my Membership can be done in just a few feet of space and you will get your heart rate up, use your legs, booty and core, and burn calories… plus it’s fun! I am right there guiding you every “step” of the way! Or you can try my Walking Pad Treadmill - a great way to stay fit indoors all year round!
Short Strength Workouts. You don’t need an hour to get results - aim for 2-3, 10-minute strength sessions every other day. You will be building muscle to help burn calories even when sleeping, providing extra strength as we age, while promoting a healthy, strong body. Grab a pair of weights and do a series of squats, lunges, arms raises and tricep pushbacks. Do these right after breakfast and lunch, and you will be more toned and strong in no time!
And no matter what you choose, be sure to drink water - it is vital as we get older, for preventing dehydration and fatigue, supporting energy and endurance, plus it helps keep you regular and your skin looking plump! If you’re thirsty, you’re already behind, so sip throughout the day!
