When it comes to working out after 50, pushing it to the limit may not be the best route. It’s easier to injure ourselves, and recovery can take longer than when we were younger. That is why I focus on consistency, not intensity, as I get older - and you should, too! Moves that will make a real impact on your day-to-day living can help you to focus on what will improve your health and lifestyle. While I recommend getting some form of cardio most days of the week (walking, biking, dancing, pickleball) and strength training 2-3 days per week, there are certain moves that I think women should add to their exercise plan - and stick with it! Read on for the three moves you should try, and my tips for staying consistent!

Three Exercises For A Healthy Body

Here are exercises I think will greatly benefit women over 50 - stick with them, and you will see and feel an improvement in your energy, flexibility and stamina! These moves are part of my Premium Membership, so for more toning, strengthening and lengthening core, lower body and upper body moves, join today and work out with me! No matter what your level, I can get you on the path to consistent exercise - and keep you there!!

1. Upper Arm Workouts with Weights. A toned upper body is about more than sleek, jiggle-free arms, it’s about creating strength so you can carry things easily and lift items with ease! My three Upper-Body "Sexy Arm" Moves are some of my most-viewed videos - because they really work! These short, effective workouts target different areas of your upper body, helping to create healthy muscle that will burn more calories all day long - even as you sleep! Grab your weights and add these quick and effective moves to your workouts!

      2. The Pilates 100. The Pilates 100 is a move that has been around for a long time, and for good reason: this move really helps to strengthen your core and back, while stretching out your body and leaving you feeling longer and leaner. Plus you will stand up taller with better posture when you add this 2-minute move to your daily routine. With consistency, you find your core stronger and flatter in no time! I like to wake up and do this move as part of my morning routine! Here is how to do the Pilates 100 - start with 25 or 50 if you are just beginning, and work your way up.

      3. Squats and Lunges. Strengthening the muscle in your lower body keeps them toned and can minimize the look of cellulite, but also gives you long, lean muscle - so important for movement, energy and healthy blood flow. When you have strong and healthy legs, you can walk with ease and move with confidence. In other words, a strong lower body can give you the independence and resilience that can take you on new adventures! Mini squats, front lunges (hold onto a chair if you need to) and side lunges are great moves to work all the areas of your lower body. Try 10-12 of each move with two rotations, three times per week.

And when it comes to consistency, try these tips:

      • Schedule your moves. Try adding the above combo to your AM routine - you can even do them right when you wake up!
      • Make it fun. Put on music you love, tell yourself you got this, and get going!
      • Reward yourself. Once you have consistently added these moves to your workout routine, gift yourself some flowers, or a new workout top. Motivation like this works!!

And don’t forget that if you need some guidance or help staying consistent, my Premium Membership is just a click away! I am right there guiding you along, working out with you in the comfort of your home, and helping you stay on track!! This is what I love to do, and I am here for YOU and your health!
