Welcome readers of my Fit Over 50: Your Anti-Inflammation Guide! One of the questions I get asked often is: what are some simple lifestyle habits that can help reduce inflammation and boost overall well-being? I love this question, because the answer is all about small acts of self-care that you can enjoy each and every day. When you care for yourself, you lower stress, support your body, and feel more energized, and those are ALL key pieces of keeping inflammation in check.

Here are a few of my favorite suggestions to try:

1) Prioritize self-care.
Self-care doesn’t have to mean big spa days (though those are fun too!). It can be as simple as taking 10 minutes for a bubble bath, enjoying a cup of tea on your porch, or journaling before bed. These calming rituals signal to your body that it’s safe to relax, and that helps lower inflammation naturally.

2) Try something new!
Shaking up your routine is wonderful for both your body and your brain. Whether it’s a new workout class, a healthy recipe, or even a creative hobby like painting or pottery, novelty keeps you inspired and motivated. And when you’re excited about your lifestyle, you’re more likely to stick with healthy habits! And if you’re ready for fresh workouts, meal ideas, and lifestyle tips all in one place, join my Denise Austin Premium Membership! You’ll get access to hundreds of workouts (from yoga to strength to dance cardio), nutrition plans, and exclusive challenges designed to keep things fun, effective, and new. Think of me as your personal trainer guiding you every step of the way!

3) Spend more time outdoors.
Fresh air, sunshine, and nature have powerful anti-inflammatory benefits. A walk in the park, gardening, or simply sitting outside with a book can do wonders for your mood and stress levels. Even a short daily dose of outdoor time helps reset your body’s rhythm and brings a sense of calm.

Remember, living an anti-inflammatory lifestyle isn’t about perfection, it’s about choosing little daily actions that add up over time. Try one of these this week and notice how you feel! You’ll be amazed at the difference.

xoxo,
