Getting Fit and Strong - Together!
Hi everyone! With Valentine’s Day coming up and February being Heart Health Month, I wanted to give you some of my tips on how you and a partner, friend or loved one can stay fit and healthy - together! The key is finding an activity you both enjoy doing, or want to try. Below are some of the ways my hubby Jeff and I stay active and healthy throughout our 42+ amazing years together - give these four a try, I KNOW they work!!
1) Make date night a night with movement! If you are going to dinner, try to walk there and back - or at least take a stroll before and after. And swap out a movie for a scenic hike or bike ride - just as fun, and much healthier than sitting around for a few hours!
2) Find fitness you both enjoy. Jeff and I love being active, and bike rides, hikes and walks are something we do together - and with our girls! Exercising with others is a great way to stay accountable and a fun way to burn calories and increase muscle mass. My Walking Challenge makes it simple to get started on a walking plan - and helps you keep on walking for everyone’s health! At the end, go celebrate your accomplishments together!
3) Look up healthy recipes you both would enjoy - then cook together! Dining at home is usually much healthier (and cheaper) than eating out - you control the ingredients. And cooking a meal together inspires creativity and connection. Spend some time looking at recipes, then plan the meal and who does what. 4) Schedule your workouts. Once you find what you enjoy doing - like a soothing yoga session or cardio dance workout from my Denise Austin Membership - get it on the calendar. It will be something to look forward to doing with each other.
