6 Ways To Boost Your Metabolism
1) Eat more protein. Protein is important as we age, helping keep our muscles strong, our metabolism humming, and our energy up. I include protein in every meal and snack, usually grilled chicken, salmon, lentils, Greek yogurt, eggs, nuts or seeds. 2) Drink more water. Water supports digestion, minimizes cravings, and plumps up your skin. It also gives you energy, helping to keep your metabolism humming along. As soon as I wake up, I drink a big glass of water with a squeeze of lemon, then drink a glass of water at least every hour that I am awake. You will feel the difference in your energy when you do this!
3) Walk after every meal (and snack!). This is an Austin family favorite - go for a walk after you eat! It helps you digest your food, gives your metabolism a little charge, and will make you feel great! Simple, easy and proven, I love it!
4) Make veggies and fruit a focus. Produce provides the fiber and antioxidants your body needs to run smoothly, so I load up the veggies first on my plate - the more the better! 5) Do a quick workout when you wake up. Starting the day with 5-10 minutes of movement has soooo many benefits: you will burn extra calories, tone and firm your body, and give your metabolism and your mood a boost! 6) Start the day with a fat-burning breakfast. I think breakfast is one of the most important meals, setting the tone for a healthy day. Add some salmon, eggs, almonds, Greek yogurt and olive oil to your breakfasts - all are healthy and help to burn fat and rev up your metabolism.
