If you love all things pumpkin spice, especially this time of the year, then you have to try this recipe for my favorite pumpkin protein smoothie! It's the perfect post workout smoothie that's good for you, easy and delicious and will give you all the Fall feels!!
A lot of people probably only think of pumpkin when it comes to dishes that aren't the healthiest, like pumpkin pie or the infamous pumpkin spice latte. But did you know pumpkin is actually a superfood? It is high in vitamin A, vitamin C, and beta-carotene. Pumpkins are also loaded with antioxidants - which have been shown to protect your skin from sun damage and lower your risk for cancer! Truly a SUPER food! I try to incorporate foods like this into meals and snacks as often as I can. Adding this simple ingredient to a smoothie or oatmeal will give you an amazing nutrient boost!
Pumpkin Protein Smoothie:
- 1 Frozen Banana
- A dash of Cinnamon, All Spice and Nutmeg (or pumpkin pie spice if you have it)
- 1 Cup Your Favorite Milk (I love to use almond milk)
- 1 Cup Pumpkin, Canned
- 1 Scoop of Your Favorite Protein (I like an unflavored or vanilla)
Protein is such an important factor when it comes to having a healthy eating lifestyle!! It helps our muscles, bone, skin and tissue rebuild or repair, it helps us to maintain a healthy weight, is good for brain function, and more.
