I'm sure many of you have heard of the spice, Turmeric. It has become increasingly popular and for good reason! Turmeric's largest benefit is that it helps to combat inflammation, which is great for anyone that struggles with arthritis or has trouble with your joints... which is so many of us in our 50s, 60's and beyond! This powerful spice will also help you through menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, hormonal weight gain, inflammation as I mentioned earlier, and a digestion aid which in turn helps your gut health - just to name a few!

I want to share a few ways that I like to incorporate Turmeric into my diet. I try to do this several times a week. The flavor is super mild so it's easy to add into just about anything! Give these suggestions a try and see how you feel!

Add to smoothies - Sprinkle a teaspoon or two into your smoothie! I love to make them for a quick breakfast or snack. Smoothies are delicious and you can really pack the nutrients in. Start with a little water or a milk of your choice, add in fresh or frozen berries, a leafy green like spinach or kale, chia seeds, turmeric and some ice. Blend it up and enjoy!

Veggie seasoning - I roast veggies so often, and love to change up the seasoning. I always sprinkle just a little turmeric in with the seasoning blend I choose that day because the flavor is so mild, but the benefits are still there!

Try a latte - Turmeric lattes are a great way to unwind in the evening. They are warm, comforting and have been proving to help you sleep better! My favorite Turmeric Tea Latte recipe is in my latest Fit Over 50 magazine, find it on page 42!
