Hi everyone! When it comes to emotional wellbeing, us women can sometimes put our needs aside. Caring for family and kids, work/life balance, trying to stay fit and healthy as we age… it can become overwhelming for anyone! If you are looking for a way to recharge your emotional wellbeing, try the following - exercise, nutrition and lifestyle tweaks can really make a difference!

7 Ways To Recharge Your Emotional Wellbeing

  1. Create some space. I am a firm believer in saying both “yes!” and “no!” to invites. Being social as we age is so vital to our overall health, but so is having downtime! It gives you time to recharge and focus on you. Next time you are on the fence, say “no” and go for a walk, take a bath, or simply be.
  2. Try journaling. Writing down what is overwhelming you can help you see what you need to address, and releases some of that stress. I am also a big fan of the Three Good Things practice: writing down in a notebook three things that happened that day that were positive. It’s proven to lift your mood for months when you do this for a few weeks - give it a try!
  3. Eat anti-inflammatory. Whole foods that naturally provide nutrients and anti-inflammatory properties can help your mind and body feel better. Focus on dark leafy greens like spinach and kale; healthy fats like avocado and olive oil; fermented foods like sauerkraut and pickles; and omega-3s like salmon and enriched eggs. My Denise Austin Membership gives you access to dozens of healthy recipes, like my Antioxidant Super Food Smoothie or my Italian Stuffed Peppers with Spinach - join today and start eating healthier right away!
  4. Drink more water. When you feel fatigued or like you have brain fog (common in menopause!), reach for that glass of water! Both are tied to low hydration. Try plain water with a squeeze of lemon or a dash of sea salt to help boost your electrolytes.
  5. Move around. Restorative exercises such as yoga, Pilates and walking help connect your mind and body, for better balance. Even a quick 5-minute walk (preferably outdoors) when you need a recharge will do wonders - give it a try! I can also get you on a daily workout routine that will do wonders for your body and mind. From my Vitality For Life Program to my on-demand workouts, let me be your personal trainer to help you recharge every day!
  6. Try breathing. From box breathing to deep breaths, this is a wonderful way to recharge. My Vitality For Life Program includes complete breathing exercises to try - join now and check them out!
  7. Get quality rest and sleep. This is so important to keeping your emotional wellbeing in a good place. Not everyone can sleep a full 8 hours, so take naps or rest breaks during the day if you need them - any rest is good rest! I like to spritz my pillow with lavender before I go to bed - a lovely scent that promotes calmness.

I hope these recharge suggestions help you boost your emotional wellbeing! You are worth it - and so is your state of mind!

Let's live FIT, HAPPY and HEALTHY - together!!
