Fall 2024 Fit Over 50: Nutrition!

Welcome readers of my Fit Over 50 Fall 2024 Issue! If you know me, you know I love to snack... I follow the 80/20 rule of eating well 80% of the time and treating myself 20% of the time... and that is where some of my snacking comes into play. But I have a secret when it comes to snacking: Snack Healthy! Once you replace unhealthy snack foods in your home with healthier ones, your snacks become fuel for your body. You will have more energy, not feel as bloated or full, and can snack knowing you are doing your body a treat - while eating a treat! 


Here are three of my favorite snack ideas inspired by recipes in my Denise Austin Membership, which you can join for about 25 cents a day!

  • Hard boiled egg with a veggie or fruit. A low-calorie source of protein, which helps to boost energy and muscles! 
  • A piece of fruit with almond butter. A sweet treat that gives you antioxidants and healthy fat to help you stay full until your next meal!
  • Guacamole and veggies. Replacing traditional chips with veggies lowers the carb count and ups your vitamin intake... and guacamole is a delicious way to get in some healthy fats!

However you snack, little swaps like fruit or veggies for chips or a healthy fat like nut butter for a fried item WILL make a big difference in how you look and feel!
