Fit Over 50: Strong Body, Strong Mind - Fitness!
Fitness for Every Summer Day
Welcome readers of my Fit Over 50: Strong Body Strong Mind magazine! It’s time to embrace the vibrant energy of summer!!! Whether you're just starting your fitness journey, or have been active for years, fitness should always be attainable and FUN! Incorporating fitness into your daily and weekly routines is much easier than you might think, and it doesn’t always require an intense gym session. Simple activities like stretching, yoga, and Low-Impact Interval Training (LIIT) can be wonderfully effective and fit seamlessly into your everyday life.
To keep things fresh and exciting, try rotating different types of fitness activities throughout the week. Start with a gentle stretch or yoga session in the morning to awaken your body and mind. Need somewhere to start? Try my Vitality Quick Strength Sessions: Yoga or keep reading Fit Over 50: Strong Body Strong Mind to find LIIT Workout 5 - Yoga On The Ball! As the week progresses and you’re feeling warmed up, switch things up with LIIT strength training, which is great for maintaining cardiovascular health without putting too much strain on your joints.
The benefits of strength training are numerous, as it:
- Helps build muscle you will use to stand tall, walk and run, and carry and lift for the rest of your life!
- Bolsters bone health, especially important for us women.
- Promotes a healthy weight since strong muscles keep your metabolism boosted.
- Gives you more energy and influence a positive mood.
Strength training is so vital to overall health - that's why I built my Vitality For Life Program around building strong muscle, and why it's included in most Denise Austin Membership workouts! And don’t forget the joy of group physical fitness activities like pickleball or joining a neighborhood walking group to get more daily steps in. These social and low-impact exercises are not only fun but build your local community and support circles!
Supporting your muscles and physical health is essential at any age, and especially as we age. Regular physical activity offers numerous benefits, such as boosting your metabolism and maintaining a strong cardiovascular system. Keeping your muscles and bones strong will help reduce the risk of fractures and falls, which is key to maintaining an active, independent lifestyle. Building a routine that supports muscle strength and bone density is crucial for overall well-being, especially for my friends over 50.
The benefits of fitness go beyond just physical health; they also support mental clarity and emotional well-being! Exercise is a great way to clear your mind, relieve stress, and stay positive. With the right balance of physical activity, you can enhance both your body and your mind, leading to a more fulfilling and energized life. This summer, take the time to incorporate small but powerful fitness habits into your routine, and watch how it sustains and strengthens not only your body but your mindset as well. Remember, fitness is a journey—enjoy the ride to YOUR strong body, strong mind!
Let's live FIT, HAPPY and HEALTHY - together!!
xoxo, Denise
